2.2.13 Yard Jockey Job Description
GWSI is a family-owned and operated warehouse and logistics company. We seek a yard jockey responsible for effectively coordinating and moving inbound containers and outbound trailers using a yard jockey truck.
Duties
- Organize and prioritize trailer placement in collaboration with warehouse management.
- Safely operate a tractor to switch empty and full containers to and from shipping and receiving docks.
- Loading and unloading of material with a forklift
- Setup warehouse operation by staging proper equipment at the appropriate loading dock per daily routing schedule
- Work closely with the warehouse management team to ensure necessary equipment is in position for a smooth loading operation.
- Position and relocate trailers between warehouses to ensure efficient shipping operations
- Safely operate yard trucks for unloading and loading of trailers.
- Responsible for checking the tractor to ensure mechanical items are to standard and for PM
- Complete daily tractor checklist.
- Complete maintenance repair log as needed
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- A valid driver’s license is required
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous experience driving trailers is preferred
- Ability to work in various conditions with exposure to weather elements
